Elizabeth was born in Michoacan, Mexico. She immigrated into the United States when she was 10 years old. Elizabeth is deeply committed to the defense of indigent people, and believes that all clients should receive a zealous, compassionate, and beautiful defense. Elizabeth graduated from the University of California, San Francisco School of Law in 2011 and has been a public defender since graduation. She has been a co-manager of our Felony Unit since 2019, and is an expert on mental health and cultural defenses, including labor trafficking. Elizabeth is a native Spanish speaker, and uses cultural competency to defend those accused of crimes.
